Get to know Ann Arbor Farm & Garden!

Who'll be visiting your garden next? Keep track of Spring migration!

Despite the recent return of wintry weather into our Michigan spring (a not unusual occurrence), many of our winged friends are making their way to our gardens. The sandhill cranes have returned, along with red-winged blackbirds and the noisy gang they hang out with -- grackles, cowbirds, and the like. Soon to follow will be Baltimore orioles, hummingbirds, and monarchs!

Stay up-to-date with who's in town and who's coming next with Journey North, a website that tracks migration for birds and butterflies through the seasons based on reported sightings. You can contribute your own observations to help build the knowledge database.

If you're wondering whether it's time to get the jelly feeder out for the orioles, or to make that first batch of hummingbird nectar, Journey North can help you decide. After long and perilous travels, our garden friends will enjoy a warm welcome of food and water!
