PLY
The PLY format was initially created at the Stanford University Computer Graphics Laboratory. It has since become a file format used by 3D scanners, most notably Cyberware scanners. The PLY format is a simple polygonal format. It contains vertex locations, and colors and face definitions. Faces can have any number of vertices.
Importing PLY files
A PLY file is imported into form•Z in the standard manner. The only options in the Modeling Import Options: PLY dialog are common options.
Exporting PLY files
The contents of a form•Z project are exported to a PLY file in the standard manner. The only options in the Modeling Export Options: PLY dialog are common options.
