Printer job history
9.2.5 Printer job history
From a printer “MANAGE” screen, see Figure 9.9, clicking the“HISTORY” tab shows the history of what print jobs the printer hasperformed; see Figure 9.28. Unlike account activity, where onlyrecent activity is retained, the Polar Cloud retains printer historyindefinitely.

The “SEARCH” button (towards the upper right of the “HISTORY”screen, below the “SETTINGS” tab), allows searching for print jobsvia criteria such as Job Name or member Display Name.
Figure 9.29: Printer HISTORY job tile
Each individual print job tile on the printer “HISTORY”screen, see Figure 9.29, displays several pieces of informationincluding:
- a rendered image of the object (unless the print job was created using solely G-code),
- the Job Name for the print job (which if not otherwise specified, defaults to the file name of the first object file in the print job, minus its file extension),
- the profile icon, Display Name, and Email of the Polar Cloud member who submitted the print job,
- three vertical dots (which may be clicked to access a menu of job options),
- the time and date when the job was submitted,
- the time and date when the job was started printing will be present only if the job was started,
- a blue “speech balloon” icon is present only when a print job has any “COMMENTS”,
- whether (and when) the job was Completed (blue check icon) vs Canceled (red x icon).
Clicking on the three vertical dots at the upper right of a print jobtile will bring up a menu (Figure 9.30) at which a printer manager or aprint job’s owner may download the object’s .stl files or its slicingprofile, download theprint job G-code,or “Requeue Job” to reprint the object; such print queue operationswill be discussed further in Section 10.5.

Clicking generally (other than on the three vertical dots) on thetile of a particular object in the printer history will bring up ascreen with more detailed information regarding that print job; seeFigure 9.31. Besides “DETAILS” (the objects in that job, when it wasqueued and by whom, and when completed), other informationabout a print job includes “COMMENTS” showing any commentsleft by the printer manager or job owner – see Figure 9.32, a“SNAPSHOT” showing the completed object(s) of the job – see Figure9.33, and (with printers that support keeping a time-lapse video, such as Polar3D printers and OctoPrint controlled printers) a “TIMELAPSE” video of the completed print job – see Figure 9.34.

Note that IFTTT applets are available to automatically post acompleted print job’s SNAPSHOT photo or TIME LAPSE video toFacebook.
Note: When viewing printer “HISTORY”, the display shows onlyyour own print jobs and print jobs performed during times you werea manager (or a member of a group with “Control Printers”shared access to) a printer. Even if you are a manager of the printernow, any print jobs submitted before you became a manager will notbe displayed to you. Or if you used to be a manager of theprinter but are not a manager now, you will see all print jobssubmitted by other members during that time you were manager, but not more recently submitted print jobs by other users. This is intended for cases such as a printer traded-off betweenteachers from semester to semester, where a teacher may wish tocontinue to see the history of the print jobs performed bythe teacher’s own students when the teacher was previouslymanaging the printer, but does not need to see print jobs ofstudents now using the printer under a different teacher’ssupervision.
